    Get ready for the ultimate hands-on, memory-making experience your kiddos will LOVE! In this adorable class, each child will get to choose their very own 8” stuffy and bring it to life! They’ll stuff their new best friend, add a special heart, and complete an official “Adoption Certificate” to make it all their own. But wait… it gets even better!! Not only will they create their new buddy, they’ll also get to paint a cozy home for their stuffy to live in because every best friend deserves a special place to stay! This class is all about creativity, imagination, and making memories your child will cherish forever. And yes… they take EVERYTHING home!
  • Lego Design 1

    Your child will learn science and math concepts while working with materials from the Lego Educational Division. Children will learn how to use levers, pulleys and gears in order to build projects such as carousels, drawbridges and conveyor belts. This class offers great hands-on learning opportunities for the beginner. This course will expand your child’s knowledge of science and math concepts such as levers, pulleys and gears. Kids will gain confidence in his/her ability to understand how simple machines work. They will build projects including a crane, catapult and race car. Cost includes a Lego treat for you to take home!

  • Canvas Creations!

    You will have fun painting with your friends. Start with a blank canvas and acrylic paints and learn the basics about brush strokes, mixing paint and basic painting techniques. This will be an enjoyable time to paint with friends! You will bring home three creations at the end of class. Display them as stand-alone or as companion pieces. All materials are supplied. Aprons are available, but we suggest that you dress accordingly as acrylic paints do not wash out of clothes.

    Get ready for the SWEETEST class of the summer! Join us for a hands on cookie decorating experience where creativity meets delicious fun! Each participant will create their very own 8” cookie cake masterpiece, along with 9 beautifully decorated cookies using fun summer inspired designs like strawberries and flowers. Guided by the talented instructors from AB Cookies & Cakery, kids will learn decorating techniques step-by-step from piping to design details while bringing their own sweet creations to life.     Dirt Camp-brought to you by Waseca County 4-H! Roll up your sleeves and dig into the fascinating world beneath our feet. Uncover the origins of dirt and distinguish between dirt and soil. Explore the roles of a soil engineer by digging like a mole and building like a beaver. Investigate global practices of using dirt and soil for dyeing clothes and constructing homes. Plant your very own mini cat grass farm and witness the interconnectedness of trees through an underground network of fungi. In a multi-subject integration approach, learners collaborate, engineer and reflect, gaining a holistic understanding of the importance of soil.
  • Build A Better World

    Build A Better World-brought to you by Waseca County 4-H! Take engineering design to the next level with this up-close look at natural disasters. Working to better understand the elements at play in the world around them, Build a Better World has learners collaborate on structural challenges as they model earthquake stability, hurricane winds, system integrity and so much more on their quest to understand how buildings are designed to resist outside forces. Culminating in a final world-building exercise, this camp is a STEAM lava flow at its finest.
  • Sports Science - The Mechanics of Movement

    Sports Science-The Mechanics of Movement brought to you by Waseca County 4-H! With near-perfect pitches, swings, kicks, strokes and sprints, an athlete’s skills come down to countless hours of practice and a whole lot of science. Designed to excite learners by integrating STEM into their favorite activities, this program thrives on collaborative learning experiences. Each day, learners investigate the mechanics of different movements, connecting STEM concepts, like the forces of motion and the influence of gravity, through exercise and movement. What does friction have to do with soccer? Why would a football player need to know about unbalanced forces? Answer these questions and so much more in this action-packed STEM program.
  • Stop The Bleed

    For 6-10 year-old group: Parents—have you wanted your kids to have some basic lifesaving skills? Even smaller children can help save lives when someone is bleeding! In this class, we will talk about different kinds of bleeding and what your child can do to help a family member or others in case there is life threatening bleeding. Your child will have the opportunity to practice bandaging and even practice using tourniquets. For the 11-17 year-old group: A bleeding injury can happen anywhere. We've all seen it happen too often—on the news or in everyday life. Life-threatening bleeding can happen in people injured in serious accidents or disasters. Instead of being a bystander, you can become an immediate responder because you know how to STOP THE BLEED! You will gain the ability to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly to help control the bleeding. You will have the opportunity to practice bandaging and learn how to use tourniquets. You can make a difference for family members, friends or even strangers!!
  • Storybook Theatre-Hansel and Gretel

    No experience necessary! Everyone will receive a part. ALL AUDITIONS & REHEARSALS HELD IN the Central Building Auditorium. Auditions: Monday, August 10, 10:00AM - 12:00PM --- Rehearsal follows from 12-2:15PM. **Rehearsal Schedules will be sent out at this time** Rehearsals: Tuesday-Thursday (Aug 11-13): 10-2:15PM **Please bring snacks/lunches, there will be a break from 12-12:15PM** Friday, Aug 14: 3:30PM Performances: Friday August 14th at 7PM and Saturday August 15th at 11AM Hansel and Gretel are like any brother and sister… they can’t stand each other! But when their parents sign them up to be Adventure Scouts, they have no idea the adventure they are in for! Troop Leader Paul takes his Adventure Scouts on a camping trip and tells a scary story about Brunhilda the Witch and her house made of candy. Excited by the prospect of all that sugar, Hansel takes off into the forest after everyone has gone to sleep, and Gretel goes after him! Along the way, they meet some forest creatures and flowers that help them, but as they get deeper into the forest, they meet some of Brunhilda’s creations. What will happen when they meet Brunhilda, and will they ever get back home again?
